Well done to Pemmy, Emilie, Kate, Eleanor, Zoe, Katie, Taylor and Kendal from 6th Upminster (St Laurence) Guides. They were presented with their BP Awards last night in a special Thinking Day meeting
Our star Baker Emilie also made the cake which was surrounded by a cupcake which was decorated individually to match the girls personality and achievement.

The girls all went to Pax Lodge for their BP Adventure.
At the BP presentation evening the girls had a theme of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" the girls dressed up and included a chocolate raffle, and chocolate fondue, together with a magnificent chocolate cake made by Isobelle Johnstone! The girls also did their own power point presentation of their Baden Powell Journey. The Baden Powell Mums also provided the refreshments on the night!
During a wet weekend in November, 25 “Drama Queen” Guides from across the County descended into St Peter’s Church in Harold Wood to take part in their Baden Powell Adventure weekend.
The Guides had a packed 24 hours with sleepover for their challenge, however challenge one was to play sleeping bag tetris fitting everyone’s bed into their new home. We started the weekend with a few drama based games and cake making for our high tea before supper, watching Gnomeo and Juliet and finally bed time.
Saturday morning we were all up early to begin the pampering element of the challenge. A beautician had been invited to come along to help the Guides begin their preparations for dressing up ready for our theatre trip in the afternoon. Once all of the Guides were dressed up in their finery they were able to have photos taken by a professional photographer who had been with us for most of the weekend recording the challenge weekend for us all. We were also spoilt for the weekend as David Jefferies had kindly prepared a 3 course meal for us to enjoy before we went out to the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch to watch ‘Death Trap’. Once the theatre was over, our carriages whisked us back to St Peter’s for us to put the final preparations together for the High Tea where parents and leaders had been invited to celebrate the special occasion. Both Jan Knight and Avril Brampton attended the High Tea and it was a pleasure to see them both there to celebrate the Guides achievements. At the end of the adventure, we had a small presentation where Jan presented each girl with their Baden Powell Adventure certificate and badge which for most was the last section for completing their Baden Powell Awards. So well done to all 25 Guides who are all one step closer to gaining their awards.
The weekend would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the help from Rosemary Jefferies, Pauline Gillett and Rebecca Gompertz, so thank you to you all and also for the photographer Netty Cracknell from Cracknell Photography.
