Our County Standard comes in either metal or cloth.
You can currently purchase these from the County office.

When you have completed 5, 10, or 15 trainings, please send your card to the County Office.
Within each 5 trainings, you may use a maximum of 2 on-line sessions.
To obtain your 10 training badge you must have attended at least one Member’s Day.


Our badges were designed by Sarah from 4th Hutton Guides.
They cost £1 each and can be purchased from the Girlguiding Essex West county office


The Stroke Association Challenge Badge is for all sections. There are activies in 3 sections:  Awareness, Understanding, and Taking Action.

The Challenge is for your group to complete 5 activities; at least one from each section, but one of them must be travelling to buy some chocolate. The group must be prepared to do things they have not done before involving Chocolate and to have fun and help other people at the same time.
So have Chocofun!!!!

Topics include Drama, Craft, Food, Traditional games and some old songs. You, the leader decides how much to complete before awarding the badge. A certificate is included for those wishing to copy and distribute.

Holiday Homes & Campsites

Situated on the bank of Saltcoats Creek in South Woodham Ferrers and near to the River Crouch our new HQ is the perfect place for a quiet Guiding holiday, yet within easy reach of many attractions.
We are several hundred yards from the road on a secure gated site with ample parking for leaders.


Just a short walk away is the town centre with a 24 hour Asda supermarket, a swimming pool and sports centre, including a climbing wall. Marsh Farm Animal Adventure Park is approx. 20 mins walk and provides a day out with lots of activities available every day. Also Tropical Wings Butterfly & Animal Centre is 5 mins by car (approx. 40 mins to walk). There are also regular buses to Chelmsford (open air pool), and Maldon (promenade park and water park), also it is a 15 min walk to the railway station where you can get regular trains to London and Southend.


The building consists of 2 large halls; 1 smaller meeting room; a large bathroom with 4 toilets, wash basins and 2 showers; a disabled toilet/wet room, a men’s toilet and a well-equipped kitchen with a hatch through to the largest hall, electric range cooker, microwave and large fridge freezer. The number of girls accommodated indoors would be 18 plus leaders. If you require camp beds we do have some available to hire.


Outside we have a large grass area which can accommodate several tents, a wood store and an outside water tap. There are 5 concrete bases for patrol cooking and a central campfire base. Suggested numbers for camping would be 18/20 girls plus leaders.


We also have a parachute, a badminton net and rackets, large garden games and bats, balls and skipping ropes available for use.

The Avenue, Brentwood, Essex CM13 2AD. Please note this postcode takes you to the wrong side of The Avenue (i.e. just across the road from the campsite).


The Pines is a Guide camp site in the south of Brentwood, at the junction of The Avenue and Ingrave Road.


The site covers 1.5 acres of grass with mature trees. There is a central campfire area with wooden benches. Altar fireplaces and firewood are available on site. There is solid shelter consisting of a hut approx 8m x 5m with carpeted floor, tables and chairs. A separate small kitchen has a fridge, freezer, kettle, electric cooker, urn and a microwave and there are two flush toilets.


The site is available for unit meetings and for campfires.

With woodland always close by, and activities within easy walking distance, you can be assured that you will be able to deliver your exciting programme to give the young people a camp to remember.

The Bidwell Guide & Scout Centre is set in a secluded forest location with the Little Ouse River running along its southern-western edge.  The Centre is a purpose-built brick building and is situated within the Two Mile Bottom Scout Campsite.

Cudham Shaws Outdoor Centre has 92 acres of unspoilt countryside in the heart of Kent but only 16 miles from central London.


One of the largest areas of chalk grassland and ancient woodlands in Greater London of which part has been designated a Site of Scientific Interest. You can even explore where Charles Darwin once studied for the “Origin of the Species”!

Chigwell Row is a delightful site set in the Essex countryside on the edge of Hainault Forest, but within easy reach of London. It has equipped and unequipped sites, all with solid shelter, and use of flush toilets, with hot showers available.


There are three houses – two for sleeping 25 each and one for 13. These are fully equipped but users will need to bring their own bedding and pillows.

Hautbois Activity Centre is an impressive 19th Century country house, set amidst 28 acres of beautiful countryside located on the edge of the Norfolk Broads with our own private cut onto the River Bure.
